LG Helps Women Wear Their Best

As the whole world celebrates Women’s Month, we find ourselves looking back throughout history about the role women played and how it has evolved today. It’s an uphill battle, but year after year, the gender gap is slowly getting narrower. The goal of equality, freedom, and empowerment is within reach.

Technology plays a large role in breaking down stereotypes. New innovations and groundbreaking advances in technology give anyone the ability to do jobs and chores that were otherwise gendered. Housework, for example, has always been a role assigned to women by default. LG has invested in numerous products aimed at giving women the freedom to explore their lives, outside the regular household chores.

LG, one of the trailblazers in technology and innovation, remains steadfast in its goal of simplifying work to make life good. Through the simplicity and hassle-free nature of LG home appliances, everyone, especially women, are given more time and freedom to pursue and live the kind of life they want. LG continuously commits to creative innovative products to support women.

In its Women’s Month campaign, LG focuses on how its clothing care solutions, consisting of washing machines and dryers, can bring out the best version of you. Instead of looking at laundry as a chore, LG makes doing the laundry complement your lifestyle while caring for your wash against wear and tear. With intuitive controls and precise settings, you can do the laundry with a click of a button and  live your best life. The LG Styler is key to looking sharp in every outfit, especially for the ladies with a passion for fashion. It refreshes and removes odors from fabrics, and utilizes LG’s TrueStreamTM technology to help reduce allergens and wrinkles in clothing. This steamy assistant also has a dehumidifying function that can freshen up her walk-in wardrobe, keeping her ready to dress for success anytime,  stepping out in style.

Speaking more about the initiative, LG Managing Director Seungjae Kim said “Women’s Month is all about empowerment and freedom. We celebrate women all over the world and we hope that our innovations have played a part in achieving their goals. With the help of today’s technologies, LG celebrates these amazing women with modern solutions to help boost their quality of life.”

Safe nga ba sa Astrotel Avenida??

So, eto na nga! We try Astrotel Avenida Branch during this time of Pandemic as a quick getaway to our busy schedule, yes, Astrotel is a motorists hotel “Motel” or motorists lounge, it is designed for motorists. But, pagdating namin, we see wedding guests staying in the Hotel. Sobrang convenient naman kasi ang location ng Astrotel Avenida, few steps away lang from LRT Carriedo Station, andun ka na.

Astrotel Avenida at Night

Before we checked-in, we downloaded, contactless tracing thru StaySafe.PH application. SOP nila yan. You have to install first the app. Okay pala itong app na ito, may blinking red if suspected or kapag may affected person nearby.

Upon entering the premises, we’re amazed and noticed the following Safety and Health Protocols:

  1. Staffs and Front desk staffs are in Mask, PPE’s and in-cosplay costume. Ang cute!!
  2. Automatic Hand Dispenser.
  3. Sanitation Mats.
  4. Thermal Scanner (Upon entering & Elevator).
  5. Social Distancing stickers on lobby & elevator.

So, SAFE na SAFE kami dun pa lang sa lobby area. Before entering the elevator, may pa-automatic hand dispenser ulit and may stickers to follow social distancing even if its not crowded. Speaking of entering, the lobby is all BLUE and it was themed, resembling intergalactic space (haha!). Nakakatuwa lang kasi, its setting the mood.

Here’s Astrotel Avenida Amenities:

  1. Space Lobby (Ang Blue!! Feeling nasa spaceship)
  2. Free Motorcycle Parking. If 4-Wheels parking, meron around the branch for pay parking. You can ask them for some assistance.
  3. Waiting Area.

We headed to our STARWARS Room!! Ayan, nasa room na tayo!! Hahaha! Gulat ako kasi floating ang bed!! Well not literally, but, it looks like where floating. Hahaha! And, nag-try na rin i-test ang langitngit ng bed, konti lang naman. Haha! Sobrang naignorante sa floating bed. Haha! Sanitized ang room and Spacious!

Ang sarap sa feeling na we’re creating another memories na kami lang dalawa ulit, walang kasamang kids. We ate snacks while watching NETFLIX and ordered Astrotel Galaxilog Meals.

Snacking and Netflix! Ganda nung lights!
May subuan pang ganap, Saya kayo?!

We’ve tried their LONGGANISA and BANGUS SILOGS for P170/order. Masarap yung bangus nila, boneless and crunchy plus suka. Contactless room-to-room delivery pa for the GALAXILOG Meals. Now, if you prefer to order food outside, you may also do via Grab/FoodPanda or whichever you prefer.

Galaxilog: Longganisa — P170
Manamis-namis yung Longga!!

Haha!
Ang Ganda dito!! Dami lights and mirrors!
Hanging Bed din! 😍

So, kung ako ang tatanungin, approve na approve ang STAYING SAFE SA ASTROTEL AVENIDA and all their branches. Sobrang linis at bango, sumusunod pa sa COVID19 Safety Protocols. It actually exceeded my expectations as a motorists hotel, we feel relaxed and at ease. The room light, parang sunlight, even if wala syang window at sobrang linis and convenient ng lugar. LG Goes Beyond Boundaries With New Monitor Line

LG’s premium line of monitors immerse you in everything from content creation to gaming

Over the past year, working from home has gone from the exception to the norm. The convenience of foregoing hours stuck in traffic, as well as being safe from the pandemic, directly translates to increased happiness, efficiency, and productivity. Consumers were quick to transition at home. However, not all setups were conducive as a workspace. One of the biggest issues that arose was the requirement for proper computer monitors. One of the segments that grew the most over the past year has been monitors. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), in the 4th quarter of 2020, the monitor market grew 16.9% year over year with shipments surpassing 39.2 million units worldwide.

LG Electronics, always at the forefront of innovation, has seen this surge and developed new line of monitors that improve upon existing technology in order to help users even more. Whether you’re a hardcore gamer, a budding streamer, or just working from home, LG has a monitor that’s perfect for you. They provide a wide variety of improved features from breathtaking colors, fast response time, to clearer images to enhance customer’s experience.

To introduce the new line of monitors to the local market, LG Electronics Philippines hosted the LG Monitors: Performance Beyond Boundaries livestream event on their social media channel to showcase what the new displays are all about. This was hosted by LG brand ambassador Luis Manzano and featured several other influencers who have had experienced the new line of monitors, namely actor and director Joross Gamboa, photographer Magic Liwanag, and gamer, cosplayer, and content creator Myrtle Sarrosa.

L-R: LG Philippines Managing Director Sungjae Kim, LG Monitors Brand Ambassador Luis Manzano, LG Philippines Product Director for Monitors Peter Uhm

LG’s UHD IPS Display features realistic, true color, enhanced contrast, clarity and detail at wide angles. Magic Liwanag was ecstatic about the color rendition that the LG UltraFine monitor offers. “The 4K IPS display delivers a comfortable viewing experience by reducing color shift from different vantage points. After shooting, editing, and printing, all the colors are correct.”

LG UltraGear™ line of monitors lets you pave the way to victory crisp visuals, fast response time, and the sharpest clarity. Being able to see even the most dynamic and fast-moving objects amidst all the action can give gamers a competitive edge. IPS display with 99% of the sRGB provides outstanding color accuracy and wider viewing angle, so it delivers high-fidelity color for reproducing even more vivid scenes on the battlefield. With a connection to an HDR-capable console (Xbox One S / PS4 Pro) or HDR-supported graphics card, users will enjoy punchier brightness and highlights with deeper shadows and silhouettes. Myrtle Sarrosa gushed about how her LG UltraGear™ monitors have helped level up her gameplay. “It virtually eliminates screen tearing and stuttering. It offers an ergonomic design. Its convenient tilt adjustments with clean uni-body design allow you to create an optimized work environment.Eye strain is reduced thanks to the Flicker safe technology, Reader mode, and Color weakness feature.Luis Manzano was also impressed with his LG Standard monitor. “This has everything you could want in a modern monitor – it’s full HD, it has a borderless design, ergonomic, and has the eye comfort features. 11 ANTI-COVID INNOVATIONS BY HOTEL SOGO

1. UVC Disinfection of Rooms, Utensils, Key Cards & Cash
-Sogo was the first hotel, as early as March 2020, to use UVC (254nm) to fight Covid-19. Taking the cue from hospitals abroad, remote-controlled carts have been deployed for room disinfection. Compartments for utensils, key cards and cash were also fitted with UVC LEDs but kept away from personnel since 254 nm UVCs, while great for killing viruses may harm the skin and eyes.

2. FAR UVC Disinfection at Elevator Lobbies
-After extensive research, Sogo has acquired and tested the FAR UVC 222 nm lamps that effectively kill viruses while being harmless to humans. Just recently (2020 Q4) produced commercially, it is quite expensive and is sold by only a few manufacturers abroad. Sogo is the first hotel to install these revolutionary excimer lamps in all its elevator lobbies.

3. UVC Disinfection for Room Aircons
-All room aircons are to be fitted with specially manufactured UVC LEDs. Through germicidal irradiation, the UVC light attacks the DNA/DNR of micro-organisms, killing bacteria and viruses, and preventing their spread. As it is turned on with the aircon, room air is always sterilized each time it passes through the unit, ensuring the best possible room air quality for our guests.

4. Ventilation ACR is Doubled in Lobbies & Hallways
-The ACR (Air Change Rate) or the number of times the air is replaced for all general spaces is set at ≥ 4 per hour by ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air-Conditioning Engineers). Sogo is doubling its current ACRs for intensified inflow of covid-free fresh air to accelerate indoor air replacement.

5. Covid Sniffer Dogs for Screening of Employees
-Dubai and Helsinki Airports have deployed Covid sniffer dogs to screen passengers and report a > 94% accuracy rate with dogs detecting the virus days before symptoms even start. Sogo has tied up with a leading K9 company, to have specially-trained Belgian Malinois dogs regularly screen its personnel for Covid.

6. Thermal Scan Controlled Doors
-For most branches, guests on their own, can get scanned before entry and if within the safe temperature limit, main doors will open automatically without need of any contact.

7. Microbial ATP Fluorescence Testing of Surfaces
-ATP (Adenosine TriPhosphate) Testing measures ATP content to indicate the presence and amount of microorganisms. Each branch has an Anti-Covid Team that regularly swabs high touch point surfaces that pass through ATP Fluorescence Detectors to verify microbial presence and effectivity of the new protocols.

8. Anti-Microbial Coatings on Furnishings, Fixtures & Touch Points
-Widely used in hospitals and mass transports in China, Hong Kong and Japan, these Polymer coatings are formed after spraying millions of nano-capsules with contact killing and anti-adhesion features that lasts for weeks. It effectively kills bacteria and viruses, including H1N1 and Covid. Sogo applies this over all furnishings and touch points.

9. Reduced Touch Points with No-Contact Fixtures (with photos of no-contact fixtures)
-A Sogo study shows that pre-pandemic, guests had a minimum of 59 Touch Points (TPs) during a typical hotel stay. Due to new protocols that include contact-less fixtures, TPs have been reduced by 40.7% with the goal to achieve a reduction of 66.1% with more advanced technology centered on cellphone use.

10. Multi-Stage Air Purifying Equipment in Lobbies
-To further sanitize indoor air, Sogo installed air-purifying equipment having several levels of filters: Pre-filter, Activated Carbon, HEPA (H11), with built-in Cold Catalysts, Ion Generators and UVC lights that eliminate allergens and pollutants such as dust, pollen, odor, bacteria, viruses, and even reduces carbon dioxide levels.

11. No-Contact Key
-Specially designed key (keychain) to avoid touching. This is one of our giveaways included in some of our promos.

Ang SOGO nag-iingat, parang Pag-iingat mo!

Eurotel grants scholarship to Pamantasang Lungsod ng Maynila Scholars Foundation, Inc. (PLMSFI) students

We all know that Pandemic hardly hit our lives, businesses slowly went down and worst leads to closure. All people suffers financially — employed from being unemployed, contract workers to non-income at all. Our youth is the most affected individuals from this chaos.

If there’s another lesson that the pandemic has brought us, it is the importance of education. While schools are reopening in some corners of the world after pandemic induced closures, the Philippines remain its classes shutdown due to COVID-19 crisis. With this, education is no exception, this catastrophe has exposed the numbers of insuffeciencies and partiality in our education system.

We’re thankful and grateful that some private companies are willing to help and prioritize helping children and youth in their education, like Eurotel Hotel. Through the initiative of Mr. Edmundo G. Las, Director of Eurotel Hotel, they are sponsoring 10 students from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila Scholars Foundation, Inc. (PLMSFI) for the year 2020-2021.

“As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility program, we at Eurotel Hotel are glad to helpout by granting these students the opportunity to learn and grow despite the pandemic. We believe that educationon is a vital part of growing not only as a person, but a responsible Filipino as well. I hope that they will not forget our simple gesture thus, learn to share with people whenever they can.” Mr. Ed Las shared.

Eurotel Hotel continues to take further its cause in extending help to the community, by helping PLMSFI scholars who are in need, despite the current pandemic situation.

“We are aware that in these trying times; education is not something to be overlooked. As we extend our assistance to these gifted individuals just as we hope for a better future. Like PLMSFI vision, we believe that no student must be deprived of a good college education. There is an old Chinese proverb that goes, “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody, and true happiness are found in helping others.” Mr. Edmundo added. The PLMSFI was established on August 1998 by a group of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) baccalaureate graduates it aims to preserve and promote the mark of PLM model university for the less privileged, intellectually deserving students of Manila. As of today, PLMSFI has fifty (50) scholar beneficiaries. Their goal for the next five years is to double the number of scholars or more and that would become possible if they can get more sustainable donations.

Dr. Edmundo G. Las, Director of Eurotel

“Even before the pandemic, there were major holes for many poor or low income families in the country who struggle to pay tuition fee for schools and lack of resources to cover emergency expenses. In this time of pandemic, all we need is care. We need more sensitivity. We need more people to care about one another; we should not let this pandemic, driven down the will and eagerness of the children and the youth to brighten up their education. Actions can really create hope,” the Director of Eurotel said.

True enough that the most generous heart remains humanity. We salute with great honor the persons behind Eurotel Hotel for being a ray of sunlight amidst chaos.

PH’s 1st Stevia grower-manufacturer bullish on financial outlook despite the pandemic

Glorious, popularly known as the country’s first Stevia company, is positive on its outlook despite almost 2-years in the pandemic as more and more people turn to healthier alternatives, sales of stevia products continue to grow.

According to agribusiness finance giant Rabobank, Stevia’s sales are expected to hit $700 million worldwide in the next few years.

Consumers in the Philippines can now get their calorie-free sugar needs from natural alternatives. Before, stevia was restricted to the health food market without any FDA approval. Recently, it is now widely used as a natural substitute for artificial sweeteners in many products.

“Stevia has been touted as a safe and healthy sugar substitute with proven health benefits. It can sweeten foods, and it has several health benefits, including decreased calorie intake, lower blood sugar levels, and less risk of cavities,” said Maura De Leon, the woman behind Glorious, the country’s first stevia grower and manufacturer.

While it has zero calories, stevia is 200 times sweeter than refined sugar and does not affect blood sugar. It is a popular option for people looking to lose weight but who want to reduce their sugar intake.

Stevia is an herb that has been grown in tropical climates for centuries. It is a small bushy plant that belongs to the sunflower family and grows in Paraguay and Brazil, but it can be quickly grown elsewhere. For centuries, the people of Paraguay add them to their foods as sweeteners, and countries like Korea, Brazil, China, Japan, and South America, have long used stevia.

Stevia products such as teas, juices, healthy coffees, chocolate beverages and natural sweeteners, manufactured by Glorious, are approved safe by the Food and Drug Association (FDA) even for people who have diabetes.

“Stevia is much sweeter than sugar, so you don’t have to add much. It’s good to note that the Philippines is also catching up on the use of this natural sweetener in various food preparations,” added De Leon.

Stevia is a natural sweetener taken from the leaves of a bushy shrub. The Stevia plant or (Stevia rebaudiana) has 150 species known to have originated from North and South America. Currently, it is produced by lots of countries, with China as the number one exporter of stevia products, and can be purchased at garden centers for home growing.

People who have diabetes can benefit from stevia. Choosing pure stevia extract can help maintain normal blood sugar levels and should be used in moderation. Stevia can also help cut down added sugar consumption, which can be beneficial for children. High sugar intake in children could lead to heart disease due to reconstructing triglyceride and cholesterol levels, contributing to children’s weight gain. Substituting added sugar for stevia can minimize these risks. At the same time, moderate consumption of foods with stevia and other sweeteners can prevent adverse side effects and promote overall health.

What’s even better is that you can add Stevia to make healthy desserts which are diabetic and keto friendly. This is great for people who have a sweet tooth but can’t indulge because of health restrictions.

Incidentally, all Glorious Blend beverages— from the 3-in-1, 5-in-1, 7-in-1 mixes, use Stevia which has no calories, no carbohydrates, and zero glycemic index. All of their instant drinks will keep you alert and energized throughout the day.

Coffee That’s Really Good For You: Glorious, Isn’t It?

For decades, coffee had received a bad reputation. Besides allegedly triggering high blood pressure, insomnia, and hyperacidity, the Filipino habit of adding lots of sugar and cream to one’s cup has been said to aggravate diabetes.

While there’s no denying the Pinoy coffee fan his morning cup, there is concern over the amount of sugar present in commercial 3-in-1 coffee mixes. The leading brand has 14.6 grams of sugar in one 20-gram sachet alone. Imagine how much sugar you’re taking in if you drink an average of three cups of coffee a day.

What About Sugar-Free Coffee?

For health-conscious individuals, especially diabetics, turning to sugar-free coffee mixes seems to be the only option. This meant enduring tasteless cups of coffee just to satisfy their caffeine fix —until Stevia came along.

Stevia is the low calorie, zero sugar sweetener that tastes so much better than artificial sweeteners.

Stevia is an herb with a sweet-tasting extract that comes from the leaves of the Stevia rebaudiana plant. It has been enjoyed since pre-Columbian South America where indigenous people used the herb to sweeten their tea and other drinks.

The plant’s taste stems from steviol glycosides, molecules which are 250–300 times sweeter than regular sugar.

It became popular among health-conscious individuals because stevia has a very low caloric content. This makes it perfect for dieters and people who are trying to lose weight.
Moreover, Stevia makes coffee and tea taste so much better without adding any calories.
Aside from beverages, Stevia is also used as an alternative sweetener when cooking or baking.

The Health Advantages of Stevia

Stevia is a safe, healthy sugar substitute that can sweeten up food without the negative health effects of refined sugar. It’s also associated with several impressive benefits such as reduced calorie intake, managed blood sugar levels, and minimized risk of cavities.

Additionally, while other sugar substitutes like Aspartame have been linked with cancer, there’s no evidence linking stevia to cancer since it is a natural ingredient.
This means you can add stevia to dishes and drinks without fear that you’re taking too much sugar, or that you’ll get sick a few years down the road.

For coffee lovers, it’s also good to note that locally-made Glorious Blend coffees and instant beverages have Stevia as its natural sweetener. The blend of natural and healthful ingredients make the drink not only refreshing and safe, but also good for one’s overall health.

The Glorious Blend boasts a full line of healthy drinks, including a 7-in-1 healthy coffee mix. This special blend is made with proven medicinal ingredients like Malunggay, Mangosteen, Calcium, Gotu Kola, and sweetened with Sweet & Fit Stevia. What’s even better is that the Glorious Blend 7in1 Coffee is non-acidic and promotes regular bowel movement.

The Glorious line-up also includes the 3-in-1 coffee mix with Stevia; 7-in-1 choco mix; 4-in-1 coffee with Malunggay; 5-in-1 coffee mix with Brown Rice; and the MaxiTrim coffee.

All Glorious Blend beverages use Stevia which has no calories, no carbohydrates, and zero glycemic index. All of their instant drinks will keep you alert and energized throughout the day.
Also, Glorious Blend products are locally sourced and manufactured. Their company supports local farmers, stevia growers, and other agricultural communities.

So if you’ve been cutting back on drinking coffee because of health problems like diabetes or hyper acidity, Glorious Blend coffee mixes are here to help. You can enjoy all the aroma and flavor of freshly made coffee all day —without the guilt!

Now, you can drink coffee for better health! Glorious, isn’t it?

AYDA2020: Excellence despite the pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic did not prove to be a barrier to excellence in this year’s submissions to the Asia Young Designer 2020 (AYDA2020) competition.  If anything, it may have even helped the students in coming up with innovative and empathic designs.

The theme for this year is FORWARD: HUMAN-CENTRED DESIGN. It reflects the need for designers to provide practical and socially-conscious design solutions for a rapidly growing population in a globalized world. It encourages our students to create designs that transcend beauty – designs that also respond and empathize with the needs of the humans the spaces are being designed for.

More than 400 entries were received this year and so many designs were so inspiring that our judges had such difficulty trimming them down.  After reviewing all the boards and design statements and much discussion, they were able to choose the top 10 in Architecture and Interior Design.
